Hi Parents,

We had a great week with the letter ‘Bb!’ Here is a snap shot…

On Tuesday our theme was bugs. In centers the kids measured bugs and flowers and wrote the numbers, they practiced writing the letter Bb, and they finished the bug pattern by cutting and gluing the missing bug. In the afternoon the kids did graphing with insects and sorted different colored bugs with tweezers. They also colored a butterfly by shape. We finished our day by doing a guided drawing of a butterfly. These turned out really cute and will be in the kids binders at the end of the year.

On Wednesday our theme was Brown Bear, Brown Bear. In Centers the kids counted beads onto the different animals from the story, they did some brown bear lacing cards, and did some creative writing about what they saw, just like the book. In the afternoon the kids rotated through specials and learned spanish, sign language, phonics and math. We finished the day by marking letters on brown bear sheets and building with pattern blocks.

On Thursday our theme was butterflies. In centers the kids counted beads on pipe cleaners, made a butterfly out the letter b, and sorted upper and lowercase b’s and d’s. This was a great challenge for them! In the afternoon we did a fun activity where the kids had a card with a food on it and they had to find their match, i.e., peanut butter and jelly or a chip and guacamole. The kids loved this! We had several foods to match so we were able to play 3 or 4 different rounds. We ended our day with art. The kids colored around a butterfly and then glued the butterfly after folding the wings up so it looks like it’s flying off the page. These are hanging in the hallway and will come home in a few weeks!

Next week, on Tuesday and Wednesday, we are talking about the letter ‘Yy.’ On Thursday is our Easter party in the morning. Looking forward to it!

Take Care,
