This week we focused on the letter Vv. We talked about the sound the letter Vv makes, and we came up with words that start with the letter Vv. The words that we came up with were violin, vulture, violet, vanilla, volcano, and Valentines.

On Tuesday, we focused on activities around the theme of “Be My Valentine”. For start-up, we found all the letter Vv on a find the letter Vv page. We read the book The Night Before Valentine’s Day. For centers, we matched dots and tally marks to the correct numbered envelopes, folded half of a heart and cut it out then wrote “Be Mine, Love,” on the heart, traced our Vv in different sizes, and found the missing number with Valentine’s clip cards. For afternoon centers, we traced/wrote the letter Vv, used playdoh and candy hearts on our Valentine’s numbered playdoh mats, made valentine themed shapes out of snap cubes, and wrote letters to the new students that will be coming to our school next year. We also did a cut and paste fill in the missing numbers 1-20.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of Valentine’s Day. For start-up, we colored a Happy Valentine’s Day dog coloring page. We read the books The Best Thing About Valentines and I Will Always Love You. For centers, did a Flip and Find to 100 game, did our V says/v/ cut and paste page, matched upper and lower-case letter hearts, and decorated our Valentines bags. In the afternoon, we passed out our Valentines and had our Valentine’s Day party in the big room where we ate a snack, played a few games and made a Valentine craft. We had tons of fun!!!

On Thursday, we had another snow day!!! The activities that I put on Google classroom were songs for circle time, things to do for fine motor practice, an activity to do for cutting practice, practice writing your first and last names, a letter Vv song and formation video, a letter Vv beginning sound page to color, a letter Vv project, and Boom Cards for beginning sounds and numbers 1-20. I hope you all got to do at least some of the activities I posted on the page.

As always, if you have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact me!!!

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
