SPRING BREAK IS HERE! But first we had to work hard through our letter Uu week and we got lots of things completed!

Our letter was Uu and our themes were underwater, umbrellas, and Up Up and Away. We had centers that included each of these items as well as our monthly numbers 17 and 18. Our two nursery rhymes for the month are Humpty Dumpty and One, Two, Three, Four, Five.

Some of the centers we had this week included: shape graphing in a fish, color by number with tally marks a shark, located the number 18 in a scramble, located and colored Uu’s in a letter scramble, practiced tracing and drawing our own diamonds, letter Uu color page with different items that start with the letter Uu, completed an 18 maze, prepped some items for the weeks crafts, color by number pot of gold, and did a rainbow match with letter to the picture to connect letters to letter sounds! We were busy!

The kids had fun making the shark mouths on Tuesday and making our Leprechaun faces on Wednesday! I have class pictures of all of us wearing our leprechaun masks and you will see that and TONS more pictures at graduation!

I read lots of books this week: Commotion in the Ocean, The Fish with the Deep Sea Smile, Pout Pout Fish and the Big Big Dark, Pout Pout Fish Lucky Leprechaun, Rainbow Fish to the Rescue, Good Night Rainbow Fish, The Underpants Zoo, Underpants Wonderpants, and Aliens Love Underpants! The kids seemed to enjoy the books on Thursday the most, reading stories about underpants!

We also filled up small solo cups with potting soil and grass seeds Thursday. This will be a project that will stay in the class for a while until it is time to send it home. I will glue on a picture of the student’s face to the cup and the grass will look like their hair is growing! I told them if it grows well, we can use scissors and give ourselves a grass cut! They got to water them before they left today and I will be sure to monitor them over break as well.

We only have 9 more weeks together if I counted correctly! The month of April we will be finishing our last 4 letters and 19 and 20. Then the month of May will be review of all our time together and a day or 2 set aside for graduation practice, which will be here before we know it! Next month we will also start doing our end of the year evaluations. If you would have any questions prior to seeing the final sheet, please email me with any questions you may have!
