The month of May we are working on things that we learned through the year. This week we reviewed some of the letters we worked on throughout the year.
On Tuesday, we focused on the letters Nn, Tt, and Zz. For start-up, we worked on a Nn letter page. We read the book Pete the Cat Play Ball. For morning centers, we used snap cubes to make numbers, practiced tracing/writing our first and last names, used pattern blocks to make zoo animals with tanagram templates, and did a cut and paste Turkey Tips page. For afternoon centers, we played a Turkey Trot game, put together counting puzzles, did a number 19 & 20 number maze and played with kinetic sand and used cookie cutters. Also in the afternoon, we played Numbers Bingo.
On Wednesday, we focused on the letters Ii, Ss, Ww and Xx. For start-up, we colored a Ss is for School coloring sheet. We read the books Pete the Cat: Pete at the Beach, The Very Hungry Caterpillar and Ten Wiggly, Wiggly Caterpillars. For morning centers, we did a snowball ten frame sheet, played an ice cream I-Spy game, did a winter/summer sorting page and looked through magnify glasses with an x-ray animal match. For afternoon centers, we cut out snowflakes, rolled dice and counted out marshmallows (ice cubes), wrote our names, teen numbers, and letters on the writing tablets, and made Xx on the geoboards.
On Thursday, we focused on the letters Dd, Hh, Ll and Vv. For start-up, we did a Dd find page. We read the book The Very Greedy Bee. For morning centers, we made letters out of snap cubes, play a Dino math game, matched our upper- and lower -case ABCs with heart themed cards, and played a veggie I-spy game. For afternoon centers, we made our letters in salt trays, played dominoes with My First Domino game, used hole punchers to punch out the lower-case letter matching the upper-case letter, and played with magnetic vehicles. Also in the afternoon, we released our butterflies that we watched grow through their life cycle.
Until next week,
