First off, thank you to all the parents for being understanding on ABC closing for a few days. We were there on Thursday wiping down and cleaning every classroom, big room, toys, supplies…all items that are handled by anyone in the building! We hope taking a few days off will get everyone well and ready to come back healthy for the last 3 weeks before Christmas break!

Monday: We had a few activities in class that included: creating a tiger from our T, decorated/cut and glued a pom pom on a winter hat they created and practiced writing our letters for the month and numbers (Zz, Nn, Tt, 8, 9, 10). I was picky with the student writing the letters and had them practice a few extra times if needed. We also had two books: Little Critter-My Best Friend and A Tale About Tails.

Tuesday: Our transportation day and we had all our centers geared around that theme. They included coloring/cutting out a truck; transportation sort between land, sea and air ways of transportation; transportation pattern page with cutting/pasting; and lastly an on the move graphing page. We had three books today that were: Curious George Takes a Trip, Pete the Cat Go Pete Go!, and Pete the Cat’s Train Trip.

Wednesday: We were busy working on our thankful pies and thankful creative writing. Students did well thinking of three things they were thankful for and copying the words onto their pies. Some thought of some good items, while others kept things light and fun. Either way they did well and cut out the pies nicely with the detailed crust to cut. We had one book Mouse Loves Fall.

Our start up activities for the week included practiced writing our names and numbers, Tt is for turtle page and ATTEMPTING a dot to dot with an uppercase T and lowercase by using the alphabet and numbers. I found out that dot to dots are extremely challenging for kids, especially those that haven’t mastered letter recognition. Singing the ABC song is one thing, but being able to match the letter to its name is another. I will continue to work on dot to dots as they are a fun start up or center activity.

PLEASE while we are off for a few days there are things you can practice with your child: letter recognition/uppercase & lowercase, number recognition, spelling aloud their first name, saying their last name (we will start writing it when we return), letter sounds and any cutting. You could also quiz them on their days of the week and months of the year. We have 2 songs we sing each day for these since the first day of school and they should be able to sing them to you by now!

We will have our Thanksgiving party on Monday the 29th when we return. If you were donating an item and weren’t able to turn it in yet, please send it with your child on Monday and we will be set!

If you have any questions over the few days we are off, please let me know!

HaPpY ThAnKsGiViNg to you and your families!  Safe travels and I will see everyone back on the 29th!
