We were down on the farm this past week!

Some of the activities we did in our centers this week: Harvest letter tracing, Matching letters (uppercase and lowercase), Ff writing practice, Farm animal count, created a frog lifecycle foldable, traced a variety of lines getting frogs to the lily pads, practiced the three finger grip with tweezers, completed a ABC Christian Down on the Farm following directions page, and made a cow from a handprint that will be displayed with the rest of the schools farm animals! We discussed the letter Ff for the week, our numbers 4,5,6,7 and also our shape for the month is a square.

We also had picture day on Tuesday and there will be a retake day in the future if needed. I believe everyone took a great picture and smiled big!

The books we read were: Big Red Barn; Berenstain Bears Down on the Farm; Night, Night, Farm; Cock-a-doodle-doo! Barnyard Hullabaloo; Giggle, Giggle, Quack; Click, Clack, Peep; Thump, Quack, Moo; and Froggy Learns to Swim. I may have heard some animal noises coming from the kids after reading some of these books! 🙂

Lastly, I have been finishing up the beginning of the year evaluations. We evaluate at the beginning of the year, middle and end to see the students progress in various categories. If you have questions about this, please let me know.

Reminder next Friday the 16th is the pumpkin patch! Looking forward to seeing those students who can attend!

Working on letter recognition (upper and lowercase) and numbers/counting are great things to do while waiting in line for drop off! The local dollar stores always have flash cards that could be used! Repetition is key!!!

*For those parents who check out my site, have your child tell me the secret word: ORANGE when they come in on Tuesday and they will get a treat (it will go home with them in their bag)!!!
