We started off the week having our Halloween/Harvest Party on Monday. The students enjoyed wearing costumes to school and showing off their ideas to their classmates! During the party the kids got to decorate their goodie bag, play with playdoh on Halloween mats, pumpkin ring toss and a Halloween bean bag toss. After they participated in the big room activities we got a nice class picture and then trick-or-treated with all the goodies that were donated! I’m sure all the kids are very grateful for having such wonderful families that help out or donate to make our party days a success! Thank you parents, we appreciate it!!!
Tuesday was O for Octopus! We completed an octopus color page, O letter find, letter of the day Oo page, and cut and pasted to make a letter O octopus during our center time.
Wednesday was Owls and Octagons! In centers today we completed a candy corn number matching game, had a 1-10 number maze to get the owl to the tree, traced a page full of octagons, and finished the pattern cut and paste with owls. We also made ourselves into mummys with a craft we completed after center time.
Thursday was our opposite day! We finished our centers first and then enjoyed our Halloween treat today instead of being rushed on Monday with the party. Our centers were matching candy corn opposites, had opposites to match in our quick kits, matched opposites with partners, and lastly completed a cut and paste opposite page. Our snack we enjoyed after centers was a chocolate pudding cup with crumbled oreos on top and an oreo and pumpkin candy corn! The kids enjoyed and it showed on some of their faces with the chocolate all over! Thankfully we have wipes in class and they got cleaned up!
The books we read this week were: Berenstain Bears and the Spooky Old Tree, Arthur’s Halloween, Happy Halloween Little Critter!, Tickly Octopus, Please try to remember the First of Octember, Ollie’s New Tricks, Owlette and the Giving Owl, Owls, and Who Will Haunt my House on Halloween?.
