This week we incorporated Pete the Cat into our centers and read numerous Pete the Cat books!
The books we read all week were: Pete the Cat Rocking in my School Shoes, Pete the Cat Scuba Cat, Pete the Cat and the Cool Caterpillar, Ten Wriggly Wiggly Caterpillars, Pete the Cat and his four Groovy Buttons, and Pete the Cat at the Beach.
Some items that came home in your child’s bag this week: Rocking School Shoe picture that they colored, their name in a caterpillar along with a picture of something that also started with the same letter of their name, and we made our own buttons from paper plates which they strung with the yarn themselves!
Other items we did in class: pattern cards with Pete’s shoes, cupcake counting, put the right number of buttons on Pete’s shirts, practiced tracing/drawing circles and ovals, we practice writing our name A LOT, and tried doing some other cutting activities.
Thursday we were able to get outside for a few minutes and enjoy some fresh air! They were excited and enjoyed being able to interact with each other outside the classroom.
Things you can work on at home with your child throughout the year: proper holding of a pencil/crayon (three finger grip), letter recognition, number recognition and allowing them to use scissors and cut while holding the scissors properly.
If there are any questions, please feel free to contact me! Looking forward to next week and talking about apples!
