Welcome to the first week of Pre-K 2020! We had a great week getting to know everyone and getting our schedule and routines started.

We have 4 centers daily involving Math, Literacy, Writing, and Fine Motor skills. I try to relate the centers to the books I am reading to them in class, the weekly or monthly concepts, and/or the skills we are working on for the month.

This week we covered All About Me and Back to School activities. We will be working a lot the next few weeks on proper grip on the pencil, working on writing our letters and numbers, and writing our first names. The books we read this week were: First Day Jitters, Clifford: Big Red School, and Chrysanthemum.

You may not see papers coming home daily, but that doesn’t mean we aren’t working hard in class! Some activities are done in quick kits with dry erase markers to give extra practice on items, or we use different items in class that remain in class. For example, in our Thursday math center we were creating pictures using tangrams.

We are going to have a Seuss-tastic year!
