Happy New Year!

The focus of the week was “S” is for snow and snowmen.

We read several fun books about tracks in the snow.  Talked about and looked at pictures of animal and people footprints in the snow  and did an animal foot print puzzle.

The children panted over a snowman stencil with a paint roller.  They created a beautiful snowman picture by cutting out three different size circles and used oil pastels to decorate a snowman. (They are hanging in the hall.) They also cut out and glued down snowmen sequencing cards and learned how to fold paper and with a few snips create a snowflake.

Mid year evaluations started this week.  Everyone is progressing!  I was very impressed to see how well everyone now knows their letters and numbers. We will be focusing on numbers 10 to 20 in January and February.

Looking ahead:  conferences are January 24th in the morning.

I had foot surgery over break – the children were very good about helping me while a limped around in a boot.  I should be back to normal and a week or so.
