This week we focused on the letter Ll. We talked about the sound the Ll makes and words that begin with the letter Ll. We came up with the words of love, lion, ladder, lollipops, and love bugs.
On Tuesday, we focused on activities around love bugs. For start-up, we colored a love bug coloring page. We read the books Slugs in Love and Love Monster. During centers, we counted love bugs and wrote the number, did a cut and paste love bug sequencing letter activity, wrote Ll in different sizes, and used a push pin to make a love bug. For afternoon centers, we played love bug tic-tac-toe, love bug sequencing of numbers, and a love bug coloring by number page.
On Wednesday, we focused on activities around limbo and lollipops. For start-up, we Did a find the letter Ll page. We read the book Big Red Lollipop. During centers, we counted out lollipops and put them in the right numbered cup, colored a lollipop color by number page, traced/wrote the letter Ll, and finished our love bug push pin art. In the afternoon, we played Numbers bingo. We also went down to the big room and acted out the motions with ABC movement cards and did limbo.
On Thursday, we focused on activities around love letters. For start-up, we traced our addresses and phone numbers. We read the books Clifford, The Big Red Dog: Puppy Love and The Grouchy Ladybug. During centers, we graphed with candy hearts, did our Ll says /l/ cutting page, matched upper and lowercase ABCs with a heart/envelope themed activity and used hole punches to punch out the lowercase letters to D, H, L and V. For art, we did a “Love You to Pieces” art project. In the afternoon, we did an alphabet write the room.
