This week we focused on the letter Ss. We talked about the sound the Ss makes and how snowman, sports, and superhero begin with the letter Ss.

On Tuesday, we focused on activities with snowmen. We read the book Sneezy the Snowman. For start-up, we colored a picture of a snowman. During centers, we focused on the theme of snowmen. We worked on matching correct number snowballs (cotton balls) to the corresponding number on a snowman, did our the Ss says /s/ cutting page, wrote our creative writing on how our snowman melted, found the letter Ss, and did a push pin snowman art. We also continued to evaluate for the middle of the year.

On Wednesday, we focused on activities around sports. We read the book Snow Friends. For start-up, we traced our numbers on a baseball number tracing page. During centers, we clipped clothespins on sports themed number clip cards, did an I-spy sports page, traced/wrote our Ss, and made our letters out of playdoh with football themed cards. In the afternoon, we acted out actions with ABC movement cards.

On Thursday, we focused on superhero themed activities. We read the book Even Superheroes Have Bad Days. For start-up, we practiced tracing/writing our names. During centers, we made our ABCs with pop-its, decorated a superhero mask, matched upper-case and lower-case ABCs with a superhero theme, and worked on a superhero craft. For art, we made our melted snowmen with puffy paint.

Please remember that parent/teacher conferences are on January 21st. I look forward to meeting with all of you to talk about your child’s progress.

As always, if you ever have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Until next week,
