This week we focused on the letter Ii. We talked about the sound the Ii makes and how igloos, ice cubes, ice skating and ice cream all begin with the letter Ii.

On Tuesday, we focused on activities around igloos and ice cubes. For start-up, we did a letter Ii find page. We read the book Curious George Builds an Igloo. During centers, we counted marshmallows by rolling dice and used tweezers, wrote the letter Ii, put magnets on an Ii is for Igloo page, colored an igloo and made igloos out of marshmallows and toothpicks. For art, we painted igloos and a background with Duplo blocks. In the afternoon, we did a write the room with numbers 0-20.

On Wednesday, we focused on activities around ice skating. For start-up, we traced our numbers 11-20. We read the book Pete the Cat: Snow Daze. During centers, we practiced our last names by putting beads on the letters, traced letter Ii in different sizes, decorated an ice skate and then laced our ice skate. We also colored our Eskimo for our igloo art project. During big room time, we ice skated with paper plates.

On Thursday, we focused on activities around ice cream. For start-up, we started to trace/write our first and last names.  We read the book Should I Share My Ice Cream? During centers, we matched an ice cream themed dots to numbers, did our Ii says /i/ cutting page, wrote our letters and teen numbers in sprinkles, and rainbow wrote our last names. For art, we made our own paper snowflakes. In the afternoon, we got to eat ice cream!!!! We also colored a following directions snowman coloring page.
