This week we learned about the letter W. Tuesday our theme was Winter Wonderland. We started the day practicing writing our first and last names. In morning centers, we practiced writing capital and lowercase W, matched the uppercase alphabet, made numbers on our pop its, and made W and shapes with Wiki sticks. In afternoon centers, we practiced tracing and writing our first names, did a connect the dots page by counting to 20, made W and shapes on our geo-boards, and made a dot painting with q tips. At the end of the day we did a snowman shape matching activity where we cut and glued snowman heads to their matching bodies. We ended with story time.

Wednesday was Wacky Watermelon day! We started the day with a watermelon coloring sheet. In centers, we did our January writing sample, matched the lowercase alphabet, and did push pin watermelons. For specials, we watched our Zoo Phonics video and practiced our letter sounds with the animal and movement that goes with each letter. We ended the day with makeup work and story time.

Thursday was Wonderful Weather day. We started the day coloring the covers of our weather books. In centers, we wrote about what we would do outside when the weather is cold, we practiced the beginning sounds of different words, counted and wrote our numbers, and did our W cutting page. For art, we made a hand print polar bear project. These turned out so cute! At the end of the day, we worked on our weather books together as a class and then read a few stories. This next week we will learn about the letter I 🙂
