This week we focused on reviewing what we learned in November and on the letter Jj. We talked about how Jesus, jumping, jellybeans and jingle bells begin with the letter Jj. We talked about the sound the letter Jj makes.
On Tuesday, we reviewed what we talked about in the month of November and had our Thanksgiving party. We read the book Thanks for Thanksgiving. During centers, we rolled a die and put that many feathers on a turkey, assembled our thankful turkey, colored our November monthly coloring page, and colored a thanksgiving color by number. We also got to eat our snack while watching A Charlie Brown Thanksgiving. In the afternoon, we had our Thanksgiving party. Here we made a gratitude bracelet, made a turkey hat and got to ply thanksgiving themed games. We had tons of fun!!!!
On Wednesday, we focused on “Jumping for Jesus”. We read the book Where Jesus Sleeps. During centers, we sorted pictures of baby Jesus from smallest to biggest, did our a Jj say /j/ cutting practice page, wrote what we would give baby Jesus as a gift for his birthday, and used play doh to make our ABCs. During specials with me, we used baking soda a vinegar to make candy canes fizz and observe the color dissolving off.
On Thursday, we focused on jingle bells and jellybeans. We read the books Rumble in the Jungle and Christmas in the Barn. During centers, we placed jingle bells on ten frames, counted jellybeans and clipped the number that we counted, traced/wrote the letter Jj, and sorted jingle bells by color with tongs. In the afternoon, we did a following direction worksheet. The kids are really starting to follow directions well. We also, started to make our surprise gifts for you!!! I told the kids that it is a secret!!!!
Please keep working with your child at home with the basics, cutting and writing their names. I am seeing improvement with all of these skills. These are the skills needed for kindergarten.
As always, if you ever need to get ahold of me, please do so by email or Facebook messenger. I will get back to you as soon as I can.
Until next week,
