We learned about the letter P week. Tuesday was pretend pizza party day. We started the day coloring a P the colors pink and purple. In morning centers, we practiced writing upper and lower case P’s. They cut and glued letter pairs. This was difficult for the students but we will keep working on this throughout the year. We played a roll a pumpkin game and made our pretend pizza! In afternoon centers, we did a color by number and our October writing sample. This was fun because they got to draw and color themselves at the pumpkin patch. They still talk about this fun field trip! We also did fall leaf patterns and used pop-its to make letters of the alphabet. At the end of the day, we made our very own fall books and read some stories about pizza and the fall.

Wednesday was our Harvest Party! The kids had so much fun playing games, decorating their trick or treat bags, and decorating and eating their cookies. We started the day practicing writing our first and last names. After circle time, we had our party. It was so cool to see everyone is their costumes. They were all so cute! They had fun at the party and also trick or treating outside. In afternoon centers, we practiced our P’s and cut out pictures that start with P. We made pumpkins with paint dabbers, did some number practice, and played with Play-doh on some fun Halloween playmats. At the end of the day, we decorated pumpkins and read some stories.

Thursday was PJ and popcorn day! We started the day coloring a picture of Spookley to get us ready for our movie later in the day. In morning centers, we did a P review page where they wrote their P’s and colored pictures that start with P. We found all the upper and lower case P’s, did some patterns with shape cards, and did a cutting activity to make a pumpkin patch puzzle. For art class, we made our very own Spookleys. The kids cut out the pieces and glued them onto a piece of paper. They turned out so cute! Then we got to watch the “Spookley the Square Pumpkin” movie. We ate popcorn and we were so comfy in our PJs. We ended the day with storytime.

Have a great weekend and have fun on Halloween!

Next week is the first week of November already! Come ready to learn about the letter N. We will be making noodle necklaces, learning about numbers, and we have a whole day dedicated to our names 🙂
