We had a great week talking about the letter ‘Aa!’ Here’s a snap shot of the week…
In centers the kids learned how to do 10 frames in math and used ‘moon rocks’ to mark their squares. They also practiced writing upper and lowercase A, used magnets to mark an alligator and letter A, and both painted a moon and stamped the letter A with bubble wrap. They turned the stamped letter A into an alligator by cutting out eyes and teeth and gluing them on. Those are hanging in our classroom and will come home soon! Also in centers the kids made letters with snap cubes, made faces with kinetic sand, and put together letter puzzles.
In art the kids finished up a moon project that we started earlier in the week. They had painted the moon and cut it out and had also colored an astronaut. I glued their faces into the astronaut they colored and we put it all on black paper with stars in art Thursday afternoon. They turned out great!
We sang ‘The Ants Go Marching’ song and also sang ‘Herman the Worm.” Ask your kids about them, they are such fun songs!
We read ‘Goodnight Moon’ (among several other books) and looked for the hidden mouse. We also talked about rhyming and did an activity matching the rhyming words from the book. We also read ‘Croc and Ally Fun! Fun! Fun!’
Next week is all about apples. Don’t forget to wear read next Thursday!
