Our first regular week of school and things went great! Students are learning our routines and procedures and running smoothly so far!

Monday: A is for Alligator – We started with an alligator coloring page and read the books Gator Dad, Winston and George, and our Abby the Alligator Alphatale story. We will read these each week we start a new letter. We created our Ally the Alligator for zoophonics for our craft. Our centers were tracing circles in our QKs, coloring the numbers in the scramble, practicing slant lines, and coloring in our bubble letters of our names.

Tuesday: Amazing Animals – We started our day with some cutting-we had 3 body pieces of our ants we cut first. We had antenna, legs and arms to cut out also. This was a timely craft but turned out great! Check the GroupMe app for pictures of everyone’s creation! We also did practice cut pages. The books were The Ant Bully and What If I had an Animal Tail. At the end of the day, the students got to share their stuffed animal that they brought in.

Wednesday: Apple Day – Students started with their name practice in QKs. We completed an apple sequencing that had 4 steps. We also colored, cut, and constructed collage apples with our names on the seeds. These did not go home and I am keeping for their graduation boards! The books were Apple Trouble and Max and Mo Let’s Go Apple Picking! Lastly, the kids got to sample 3 different apples which most seemed to enjoy!

Thursday: Awesome A’s – The class started with an Aa Ant start up page. Our book today was Ten Apples Up On Top. The centers we completed were Aa letter tracing/writing in QKs, coloring a large Aa, sculpting with connectors and working on some puzzles. We also made our own apple trees using our hand as the trunk and pom-poms as the apples. These were drying and may go home on Monday.

Few things to work on at home: CUTTING!!! Please don’t be afraid to have them practice at home. We cut almost everyday!!! Three finger grip on crayons, markers, pencil…trying to correct the fist grips right away! Fine motor skills will help in both of these. Please let me know if you have questions or need ideas for things to do!

Have a great weekend and see everyone back on Monday to tackle our next letter, Mm! 🙂
