Mrs. Kelli’s Preschool Classroom
Welcome to the first week of Preschool!
Overall, our week went well. I always anticipate a few hiccups (some crying, testing of boundaries, etc) because that is very typical. That being said, I already saw improvement from the first day to the second & that is great!
We are starting to learn our September themes, and our circle time songs. The books we read this week were: If You Take A Mouse to School, and David Goes to School.
While I give a lot of grace, I feel that it is important to start establishing and enforcing classroom rules early. It is the best way to maintain classroom control, which is in everyone’s best interest. We are already using our stoplight system , which is used as a learning tool for behavior.
This week we did many fun fine motor centers, such as Legos, linking chains, doodling on the dry erase board, peg boards, & play-doh. We also learned about the color red. We did our “Roses are Red nursery rhyme page, & a “red things” coloring sheet. We did a paint can color sort & sort-a-shape boards. For Art, we did a “first day of school” handprint. We had some free play time, both indoors and on the playground. It was a lot of fun to watch everyone getting to know each other!
Until Next Week,
Mrs. Kelli
