Welcome to Mrs. Kelli’s Classroom!

Hello Everyone!

I’m so excited to begin this adventure with my new students!

We had a great first week together.  It always takes a little time for everyone to get acquainted with each other and figure out how school works.  Everyone is learning that school is different than being at home, and as much as we’d love to play all day, unfortunately we have tasks to accomplish. We do give a lot of grace, because of course, they’re very little.  However, we also need them to understand from the start that there are school rules to follow. After all, the social aspect is a huge part of what Preschool is all about! I know that within the next few weeks, everyone will get the hang of it! I’m happy to say that there were very few tears this week. Yay!

Thank you so much for trusting me to take care of your little ones. I take this very seriously, and strive to treat them as my own. I’m looking forward to getting to know you this year! Please don’t ever hesitate to reach out to me with questions/concerns, etc.

Here is a breakdown of our week:

Books we read:

Pete the Cat, Rocking in My School Shoes

David Goes to School

Centers: (work time)

We played with play-doh (great for fine motor practice!)

We traced our names

We used giant peg boards (also great for fine motor practice!)

We did building using our suction cup pieces

We colored our “First Day of School” sheet

We worked with unifix cubes (again, fine motor practice)

We linked shapes with our red linking chains (MORE fine motor practice!)

We wrote on the white board with red markers (did you know writing on a vertical surface improves wrist extension & pencil grasp?)

We colored our “Roses Are Red” nursery rhyme page

We used our fanta boards to match colored pegs with a picture mat to create a red apple picture

**(as you can see, we will be doing lots of fine motor work this year!)**

We did our “First Day” handprint with paint

We made a name apple, practicing our cutting & gluing

We enjoyed some free play time to get to know each other. I am already seeing many little friendships forming 🙂

Until Next Week,

Mrs. Kelli
