Hi Parents!
This weeks letter was Ss and it was jam packed!
Monday was a day off since it was crazy cold! I hope you enjoyed some of the activities I posted in our Google classroom.
On Tuesday the theme was Sneezy the Snowman. We started the day coloring our Ss page. In centers the kids worked on their The Ss Says write, cut and paste worksheet. I can see all the kids writing and cutting is really improving! At another center the kids worked on counting and writing numbers with sports themed cards where they counted the number of balls on each card and wrote the number on their worksheet. They practiced their letter formation and writing on our stand-up dry erase boards. The kids picked a card and wrote the upper and lowercase of that letter on the board. The kids really like to write on the big dry erase board. It gets them up and out of their chairs! To build their fine motor muscles the kids got to play with Legos.
Wednesday is always Art day! Today the kids got their first real lesson is watercolor painting and they did so good. They painted snowflakes and they are beautiful! I am going to hang them in the hallway. Back in the classroom we worked on finishing a couple other multistep art projects by gluing cotton to winter hats and Eskimos. The kids also worked on their letter recognition by matching upper and lowercase sports themed cards.
On Thursday our theme was ABC Super Heros! The kids were asked to draw and color a picture of their super power if the were a superhero. They came up with some cute ideas for sure. At another center the kids made PlayDoh snakes to put on their Ss mat and then made snowmen when they were done. They also worked on their creative writing in another center. The kids used their imagination to complete the sentence “My mitten is so big a ____ can fit in it.” and then draw a picture of the item. I wrote the word and they need to copy it on the paper, The kids were so creative and did so good writing! The favorite center was the superhero masks. They colored and decorated the masks. The kids then cut them out and I added pipe cleaners and most wore them home! Adorable!
It was so nice talking to you all at the conferences on Friday. Thank you for calling and coming in! Next weeks letter is Xx.
