Our first week of school was crazy but a lot of fun! This was our welcome week and it was so nice to meet all your little ones. I can’t wait to get to know them more throughout the school year. Tuesday was our first day. We started the day coloring a first day of school paper. We had foyer time, circle time, and bathroom break. In centers, we wrote our name, talked about how many letters are in our name, played with a counting caterpillar, and played in a sensory bin. Then we washed our hands for lunch and played outside for recess. For art class, we made pencils. They had to write their name, color, cut, and glue the pieces to make a pencil. We also did our first day hand prints. At the end of the day, we did our first day pictures and played with our friends in the big room.
Wednesday we continued with our welcome week. We started the day writing our names and practicing tracing numbers. We celebrated Grace’s birthday! We had foyer time and bathroom break. For morning centers, we started our pencil control book, wrote about what we would eat if we were a caterpillar, played with tangrams, and put beads onto pipe cleaners. Then we did our circle time and got ready for lunch. They got to play outside for recess, then came in to do their bathroom break. In afternoon centers, we found letters and colored them, did patterns with Pete the cat’s shoes, did lacing cards, and finished our pencil control books. Then we got to play in the big room with our friends. At the end of the day, we watched a video in the foyer and started our beginning of the year evaluations.
Thursday was our last day of welcome week. We started the day playing with toys. Then we had foyer time and went to the bathroom. We came back to the classroom to do circle time and morning centers. They hole punched leaves and made caterpillars with beads and pipe cleaners. They also played with picture dominoes and pop its. We also did a hungry caterpillar sequencing page. We washed our hands and ate lunch, then played outside for recess. In afternoon centers, we wrote on drawing tablets, finished our hungry caterpillar sequencing page and alphabet page, and played a memory game. At the end of the day, we went to the foyer to watch a video and continue our evaluations.
