This week we focused on “All About Me”.

On Tuesday, we played while waiting for all of our friends to get there. For morning centers, we practiced our colors by matching the pictures with the right color crayon, drew ourselves by looking in a mirror, practiced tracing/writing our name, and made shaped with geoboards and rubber bands. After centers, we got our wiggles out by dancing to some “Danny Go”!!! In the afternoon, we wrote our names and colored our September monthly coloring page. For afternoon centers, we worked on tanagram puzzles, made shapes with kinetic sand, constructed letters, and played with Legos. We also read books on “All About Me”.

On Wednesday, we practiced tracing/writing our names while we waited for all of our friends to get there. For morning centers, we practiced 1:1 correspondence by putting the right number of objects with the correct number, practiced cutting/using scissors with a Very Hungry Caterpillar cut and paste page, made our ABCs with pop-its, and made patterns with linking chains. In the afternoon, we played Color/Shape Bingo. We also got to make a Very Hungry Caterpillar with beads and a cut-out leaf. We read the book A Very Hungry Caterpillar.

On Thursday, we colored and “All About Me” page while waiting for our friends to get there. For morning art, we used paper towel rolls to make A Very Hungry Caterpillar art project. For morning centers, we made numbers with pop-its, used q-tips to paint a circle, used snap cubes to make Back to School objects, and laced with hungry caterpillar lacing cards. In the afternoon, we used bingo dabbers to paint the first letter of our name and practiced writing our name. At the end of the day, we listened to all our friends while they told us about their “All About Me” pages.

I still have a couple of you that have not turned in your GroupMe contact forms. Please turn those in ASAP. This will be the only way that I will be contacting parents from now on.

Please practice with your child their name tracing/writing by using the correct pencil grip. I have handouts if you need one that explains the right pencil grip for right and left handers. If you would like one, please let me know and I will send one home. Also, please practice cutting and using scissors with you child. Practice making sure they use their thumb on top. It is very important that they master these skills for kindergarten.

As always, if you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
