Hi Parents,
This week we learned about the letter Rr. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Rainbows.’ In morning centers the kids rolled a dice and covered the number on a rainbow, they painted a rainbow with dot markers, they cut and glued their R page, and they made rainbow patterns with popsicle sticks. In afternoon centers, the kids colored pictures that start with the letter R, they sorted colored pom poms with tweezers, and they put stickers on a rainbow. For our extra big room time we played a listening game called ‘boom, clap, grab.’ We also did a hey riddle riddle for the letter Ff. For the hey riddle riddle, I put up pictures on the wall that start with the letter we are working on, the kids pick a card, I read the rhyming riddle, and the kids have to figure out which picture I’m talking about. We will do this activity for the letters we are working on each week if we can! We ended our day finishing our rainbow sticker sheets and building with LEGO’s.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Rectangles and Robots.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning sign language, Spanish, zoo phonics, and science. After lunch the kids cut and glued robots and they traced the lines on a robot and cut out the edges. We ended our day with art. The kids drew a rainbow with their crayons and then used watercolors to paint the background. We finished it off by gluing cotton balls at the ends of the rainbow to make clouds. These will be hanging in our hallway!
On Thursday our theme was ‘Rockets.’ In morning centers the kids worked on a color by number of a rocket, they cut and glued their moon (painted back during M week), colored a rocket, and put stars on their background. They also played with space characters in kinetic sand and made patterns with colored chain links. In afternoon centers the kids counted beads on to pipe cleaners with numbers, they finished their color by number, they put beads on string, and they traced, colored, and cut rectangles.
Next week our Harvest party is on Tuesday and I have lots of fun fall themed activities planned for the rest of the week. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
