This week we learned about the letter R. Tuesday our theme was rainbows. We started the day playing with toys. Then for centers, we practiced writing upper and lowercase R, did our R cutting page, made rainbow number towers, and did a rhyming puzzle. For art, we made name rainbows, which look great next to our rainbow in our classroom. Then we did our October writing and drawing samples. At the end of the day, we played the riddle game and played with friends.
Wednesday was rectangles and robots day. We started the day coloring a robot. Then we had specials rotating through Spanish, sign language, science, and phonics. In Phonics, we discussed new letter sounds P and R and did our Zoo phonics video. In afternoon centers, we traced a robot, used tweezers to put pom poms on a robot, did tangram shape robots, and made a rectangle robot. At the end of the day, we had chapel and learned about pumpkins.
Thursday was rocket day. We started the day writing our name in our quick kits. Then we got to go outside to play stomp rockets. The kids always love this! Then we came back to the classroom to make name rockets. In afternoon centers, we wrote R and rectangles on the big dry erase board, did a color by number rocket, played a roll and build rocket game, and did a rectangle trace color cut and glue page. At the end of the day, we decorated our bags for our Harvest party and had story time.
See you next week for our Halloween week! We will have our Harvest party, celebrate Halloween, and wear orange day.
