This week we focused on the letter Rr. We talked about the sound the letter Rr makes and words that start with the letter Rr. We came up with rainbow, rain, rectangle, red, robots, and rockets.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of rainbows. For start-up, we colored our Rr coloring page while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we worked on ten frames by counting the dots and find the correct number, traced/wrote the letter Rr, matched our lower-case and upper-case ABCs, and practice fine motor skills by using stickers to make a rainbow. Before lunch, we did the Rr says /r/ page. After lunch, we worked on finishing our sticker rainbow project. These too awhile for some kiddos to do. We also read books that had a rainbow theme.

On Wednesday, we focused on rectangles and robots. We finished coloring our Rr coloring page at start-up. In the morning, we had specials with all five all-day teachers. We are learning so many things during our specials time. For morning centers, we matched and counted out “robot gears”, made robots with Play-Doh, played a roll-a-robot game, and worked on patterning with a robot theme and tanagrams. After lunch/recess, we made a rectangle robot. At, the end of the day, we did our circle time since our morning was so busy. We also read books about robots and talked about things that are rectangles.

On Thursday, we worked together and built with blocks while our friends arrived for school. For morning centers, we made our numbers and ten frames with Play-Doh, did our Rr maze and Rr find, matched our ABCs with a rocket theme, and traced our ABCs. For art, we worked on writing our names on the colors of the rainbow strips to make a rainbow art project. We also worked on following directions by listening to Mrs. Brandi tell us what to do and what color to do the item with. We will also do the same following direction page in May to see the improvement. At the end of the day, we played with our friends. This is important too!!!! We also read books with a rocket theme.

Until next week,

Mrs. Brandi
