Hi Parents!  What a fun week!  I love weeks like this when we can relax and have a little fun with our class.

Monday was Fall break so we started our week on Tuesday with a cute trick or treat coloring sheet.  The kids started a letter recognition activity with a lot of cutting.  They strengthened their cutting muscles with lowercase pumpkin letters that we will paste in order next week.  They were so exhausted doing so much cutting that they relaxed by playing with Legos.  Which is a great fine motor activity!  Shhh!  Don’t tell them! 😉  To continue our Fall theme the kids counted spiders.  They rolled dice and counted spider rings which they placed on a straw.  This was the favorite of the day! We ended our day with reading a couple books, Splat the Cat: What was That? and The Biggest Pumpkin Ever.

Wednesday was our Harvest Party!  I loved seeing all the kids in their costumes!  We decorated our trick or treating bags before our party and talked about what was going to happen during the party.  Thank you to all the parents who came and helped out and definitely those that donated!  We appreciate you and couldn’t do it without you.

On Thursday the kids loved the science experiment we planned.  They filled out a worksheet with their prediction of whether our mini pumpkin would sink or float when placed in water.  The kids got to hold the pumpkins and feel how much they weighed to help them decided.  Most predicted it would sink and to their amazement the pumpkin floated!  These worksheets went home.  We also played a game of pass the pumpkin where each child got a clothespin to use.  A cardboard cutout of a pumpkin was passed from one child to another using only the clothespin to hold it.  They had so much fun and were so excited as they go better and better with each round.  After that we played a game of party picture bingo.  I showed them the picture and they had to find a match on their bingo card.  We had a great time!  We ended the day with reading a couple of fun books, Happy Halloween Snoopy and Pumpkin Magic.

Such a fun end to the month.  Now on to November!
