Hi Parents!  Another week is in the books.  Our Zz week was fun and hectic!

Monday was our first snow day!  Hope the kids had fun playing in the snow.  And those that peeked at my Google Classroom, I hope it was useful and fun.

Tuesday’s theme was Zaney Zookeepers.  We started our day with a zoo coloring sheet.  I was surprised at so many kids knowing the word zoo.  In centers we practiced our cutting skills by cutting out the letter Z for our art project tomorrow.  We also did a cut and paste, shortest to tallest zoo animal sort.  The kids did really well with this.  Another center was working on fine motor muscles by using tweezers to pick up pompoms and put them in cups according to cards the kids pulled.  The kids have done this before and enjoyed it again!  But the favorite center was PlayDoh.  They used PlayDoh to build zoos for small animals.  At the end of the day we read Never Ever Shout in a Zoo.

On Wednesday it was Art Day!  We started the day with a find the Zz worksheet.  At art we used the Z we cut out yesterday to make Zebras using black pieces of paper.  They turned out so cute and are hanging in our hallway.  Then we went back to our classroom to talk about and fill our Operation Christmas Child boxes.  First let me say a big thank you to all of those that were able to contribute to this amazing program.  It truly is one of my absolute favorite charities.  Thanks to you we were able to box 5 boy and 5 girls shoeboxes in our classroom alone.  Every one of the kids got to take turns putting things in the shoeboxes and in the end we said a prayer over them together.  I talked to the kids about who would be receiving these blessings and how it was our privilege to be able to bless them.  Although it was a little confusing for the kids I think they understood the basic idea of helping others in need.  It was a sweet day.  At the end of the day I read There’s a Zoo in Room 22.

Thursday was our zigzag and zipper day!  In centers we cut and pasted a Z with zippers.  This was a challenge for the kids.  Those zippers were thin.  We also did our write cut paste and glue The Zz Says worksheet.  Their cutting muscles were tired!  The kids also got to play with zoo animals in kinetic sand.  The kids had fun driving little cars on our zigzag tape highway on our table and floor in the classroom.  At the end of the day we read My School’s a Zoo!

Next week is our Tt week!  We’ll have fun with turkeys and transportation.
