Hi Parents,

We had a fun week learning about the letter Zz! Here is a snap shot…

On Tuesday our theme was ‘Zoo.’ In morning centers, the kids counted paper clips on to popsicle sticks with numbers and magnets, they built zoo animals with pattern blocks, they played with zoo animals and kinetic sand, and they worked on a creative writing page writing and drawing what animal they would be if they were in the zoo. In afternoon centers, the kids cut and glued zoo patterns, they worked on puzzles, and they played in my small sand boxes. For our extra afternoon big room time we played a listening game with pool noodles and we played the pencil game again. Ask your child about these fun games! We ended the day by gluing spots (sequins) on to the character from the book we read called, ‘put me in the zoo.’

On Wednesday the theme was ‘Zebra.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning phonics, Spanish, science, and sign language from all of the teachers. After lunch, for centers, the kids ‘fed a zebra’ pom poms with tweezers, they made a zebra out of the letter Z, they worked on a zebra dot page, and they played with silicone pattern fidgets. We ended the day with art. The kids made a colorful zoo animal using markers and water. Once these were dry, the kids cut them out and glued them on a colored piece of paper. These are hanging in our hallway!

On Thursday our theme was ‘Zig Zags and Zippers.’ In morning centers, the kids cut and glued their Z page, they cut and glued zippers on the letter Z, and they made zig zags and z’s with pony beads. In the afternoon, the kids helped pack our shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child. Thank you for all of your donations! We ended the day working on our November name writing and coloring page and sticking funny faces on zoo animals.

Next week is our last full week before Thanksgiving and we will be talking about the letter Tt. Looking forward to it!

Take Care,

Missy
