Hi Parents!  What a busy week!  Our letter for the week was Tt.

Monday’s theme was T is for Turkey!  We started our day with a turkey coloring sheet.  I really find that coloring can calm the weekend vibes and center the kids to get ready for the classroom.  And they were adorable turkeys.  Today we had chapel so after bathroom and dancing time we headed to the sanctuary.  The kids watched a video about Operation Christmas Child which gave them a little information about how the shoeboxes get to the kids in need and how those kids are so very grateful for these blessings.  At the conclusion of chapel, Mrs. Trish asked each child what they wish they could gift those kids in need.  It really was so precious to hear their sweet innocent thoughts.  Then we headed back to the classroom for some center time.  The kids worked on cutting out some turkey feathers for a multi-step project that will be going home next week.  It was a lot of cutting so their fine motor muscles were burning.  The kids also did some lacing of strings and I gave them a few 24 piece puzzles to work on.  The kids did so great with the puzzles and really enjoyed them.  We ended our day with reading Turkey Trouble.

On Tuesday we started the day with practicing names on our dry erase quick kits.  In centers the kids worked on the write, cut and paste worksheet The T says and the find the Tt page.  Another center was a turkey feather roll and count where the kids rolled dice and counted paper turkey feathers to add to the featherless turkey.  They also used pattern blocks to build some fall themed tanagrams.  At the end of the day we read The Silly Turkey Party.

Wednesday’s theme was Triangles and Transportation and it was art day! During art we worked on a super secret project that you will see next month! 😉  Back in the classroom the kids worked on the monthly coloring sheet that includes writing their name.  While the kids got to play with our transportation toys (which they absolutely loved), we used brown paint on popsicle sticks.  You’ll see those next month also.  We ended our day with reading Mighty Mighty Construction Site.

Thursday was Thankful Thursday and wear brown to school day. Today we finished our turkey feather project from Monday by cutting some more turkey parts.  The kids then told me one thing they were thankful for which I helped them write on their Thankful Turkey.  I am in love with this project!  I really want to keep them to display them in our hallway but I think you might want them before Thanksgiving.  They’ll go home next week.  Another center was the kids writing the letter Tt on a vertical white board which is such great help with strengthening those writing muscles.  In another center the kids drew and colored a picture of something they are thankful for.  This is also going home next week.

Next week we will continue our thankful theme and will get to have some fun at our Thanksgiving party!
