This week we focused on the letter Xx. We talked about the sound the letter Xx makes and words that begin with the letter Xx. We came up with x-ray and xylophone. We also talked about words that end with the letter Xx. We came up with box, six, fox and ax.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of “X marks the spot”. For morning centers, we made our numbers with pop-its, did a cut and paste pirate patterning page, worked on our beginning sounds, and traced/wrote the letter Xx. In the afternoon, we did our Xx says /x/ page and assembled our treasure map, which we used on Thursday. We read books about “X marks the spot”.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of x-rays. For centers, we counted “tally bones” and worked on an x-ray fish dot-to-dot, matched the x-ray to the right animal by using a magnify glass, constructed our letters with plastic construction pieces, and put together a skeleton puzzle. In the afternoon, we did an x-ray craft by tracing our hand and arm and gluing Q-Tips for the bones. At the end of the day, we did and x-ray color by letter page. We read books that showed different types of x-rays.

On Thursday, we focused on words with “x at the end”. For centers, we did a “What’s the Number” page by counting the dots and writing the number, did a cut and paste “x at the end ” page, worked by spelling words with word puzzles, and used linking chains to make patterns. For art, we did a xylophone craft. In the afternoon, we used our treasure map and went on a treasure hunt. At the end of the day, we had choice time and played with our friends.

Until next week,
