Hi Parents,
We had a great week learning about the letter Hh. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was, ‘Hair and Hat.’ In morning centers, the kids spun a spinner and counted buttons on to pipe cleaners (which were ‘hair’ on little tube guys), they cut hair sheets, and they decorated and cut out a winter hat. These turned out so colorful and are hanging in the hallway! In the afternoon, before our extra big room time, the kids cut and glued their H page. For our extra big room time we played 2 listening games, one called ‘boom, clap, grab’ and one with pool noodles. Ask your child about them! We ended the day with toys in the classroom.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Home Sweet Home.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics, and science. Before lunch, the kids cut out words that start with H and glued them on a house. In afternoon centers, the kids worked on Tangrams, they played with small figures, and they cut and glued a house and then wrote their address. We ended the day with art. The kids watercolor painted a house. This class loves painting!
On Thursday our theme was ‘Happy Hearts.’ In morning centers, the kids cut and glued matching hearts, they made a necklace with beads and heart noodles, and they cut out a heart and then hole punched it. In afternoon centers, the kids found erasers in rice bins with tweezers, they laced hearts, they put together heart puzzles matching uppercase and lowercase letters, and they worked on a heart art project. We ended the day doing ‘Hey Riddle Riddle’ with the letter Ii and then read books.
Next week our party is on Tuesday at 10am. Don’t forget to bring in your Valentines on that day! The rest of the week we will be talking about the letter Vv.
Take Care,
Missy
