This week we focused on the letter Hh. We talked about the sound the letter Hh makes and words that begin with the letter Hh. We came up with house, horse, hat, hair and heart.

On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of “crazy hair/hat” day. For morning centers, we practiced one to one correspondence with a heart theme, practiced our cutting by cutting “crazy haired” faces, traced/wrote the letter Hh, and worked on our fine motor skills by stringing beads on pipe cleaners. In the afternoon, we did our Hh says /h/ page and colored a hat color by number page. We read books that had a Hh theme to them.

On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of “home sweet home”. We worked on our addresses and phone numbers. For centers, we graphed candy hearts, we counted dot and practiced writing the corresponding number, matched our upper- and lower-case ABCs, and found the missing number that was in between two numbers. In the morning, we had specials with all five full day teachers. In the afternoon, we did our February monthly coloring and writing page.

On Thursday, we focused on the theme of hearts. For morning art, we practiced our cutting and gluing skill by making a “heart person”.  For centers, we counted hearts in tens frames and clipped the correct number, practiced addition by using candy hearts, worked on beginning sounds with a heart theme, and practiced our fine motor skills by make patterns with our linking chains.  We also read books with a Hh theme to them.

Until next week,
