Hi Parents!

This week’s letter was Hh and the kids had fun with crazy hair, happy hearts and learning about home.

Monday was unfortunately a Google Classroom day at home.  I hope you were able to have some fun with the activities I assigned!

On Tuesday our theme was Crazy Hair and Hat day.  The kids came in looking so fun!  We started our day with an Hh coloring sheet to reinforce Hh words.  For centers the kids worked on our The Hh Says write, cut and pasted worksheet.  They also created crazy hair with PlayDoh, feathers and beads.  The kids had fun with this!  They also strung and counted beads on pipe cleaners.  Both worked their find motor muscles while having fun.  We also started our Valentine’s art project with drawing their families on hearts.  This project has a couple more steps before it comes home.  And the kids worked on cutting with some fun crazy hair cutting sheets.

Wednesday is Art day and our theme was Home Sweet Home.  At art the kids built their home by cutting out shapes and gluing them on construction paper.  We took pictures to add include them in their houses!  Back in the classroom the kids used colored tissue paper and water to create a watercolor-look on the family hearts from yesterday.  Cross your fingers with works!  We also talked about home important it is to learn their address and what an address is.  I asked them to look at their house and find the numbers and talk to you able their street name.  I created a sheet with their name, address and mom’s phone number so they could use a dry erase quick kit to practice.  This can be a good tool to bring out each week for them to remember just in case.

Thursday was Happy Hearts day.  We had fun sorting and counting conversation heart erasers.  I was proud at how they got the hang of this graphing activity.  They also worked on matching upper and lowercase letters by picking a lowercase card and coloring the heart that had the uppercase letter.  In another center the kids practiced writing their upper and lowercase Hh’s on a dry erase quick kit.  They also worked on a cut and paste worksheet to match the half hearts together.  Heart day is a favorite!

Next week’s letter is Vv and we will have our Valentine’s Day party!
