This week we learned about the letter H. Tuesday was crazy hair and hat day. We started the day playing with toys with friends. We did circle time and bathroom break, then had centers. For centers, we wrote upper and lowercase H, did an H letter review page, made H with pattern blocks, and cut paper hair with scissors. Then we washed hands, ate lunch, played at recess, and had another bathroom break. For art, we did pom pom painting with clothes pins and hearts. I always love how these turn out! Then we went back to the classroom to design our own hairstyles. We played in the big room with our friends to end the day.

Wednesday was Home sweet home day. We started the day writing our names and numbers in our quick kits. For specials we rotated through Science, Spanish, Sign Language, and Phonics. For Phonics, we practiced our new letter H, Honey Horse, and our sound and movement. We also practiced our Zoo phonics song and watched a Phonics video. For centers, we wrote our phone numbers and addresses and practiced dialing them on the wall and the phone. We also matched the keys to their houses, made H’s on geoboards, and made our own shape house. We played in the big room and then did a house phonics page to end the day.

Thursday was Happy hearts day. We started the day reading books with friends. For morning centers, we wrote Hh, hearts, and our new numbers for the month on the big board, did our H cutting page, did candy heart graphing, and stamped hearts on H. In afternoon centers, we wrote what number comes between, found all the H’s, made hearts with pattern blocks, and used tweezers to put candy hearts on letters. To end the day, we made our Valentine bags for our Valentines next week.

See you next week for V week, our Valentine party, Veggie day, and celebrating Valentines Day!
