Hi Parents!

This week was full of Love!  Our letter for the week was Ll.

On Monday we started the week with a Ll coloring sheet and Chapel time.  Chapel was about the story of the Good Samaritan.  We talked about how God wants us to be helpful and kind to everyone.  I think the kids really enjoy these chapel times each month.  Instead of going to our classroom we decided to stay in the foyer.  We spent time reviewing and playing our version of dominos.  We went in a circle and each child took turns matching the dots on the dominos to then floor game.  The kids did awesome!  We also watched a movement and phonic video called Zoo-phonics which the kids really like.  After the game and video we played with our school toys for a few minutes before dismissal.

Tuesday was all about Love Bugs.  In centers we worked on our write, cut and paste The Ll Says worksheet.  We also did a love bug color by number sheet.  In another center the kids worked on a love bug push pin activity which was a big challenge for most and really worked those fine motor muscles.  Our math center was love bug clip cards where the kids counted the items in the picture and placed a clothes pin on the correct number.  They worked really hard on these and I am so proud of them!

On Wednesday it was Love Letters and Lollipops!  And of course Art day.  During art we made love bugs with our names on them.  The kids wrote one letter of their name on each heart and glued them together to name a love bug.  Add some googly eyes and they’re adorable!  As a special treat after art we joined the all-day classes for their Science Special about volcanos.  The kids had walked passed the volcano earlier and were so excited about it.  They were so well behaved during the demonstration of an erupting volcano.  They really enjoyed it and I think maybe we will try to join them again soon.  Back in our classroom the kids worked on letter to new incoming students in the Fall.  They wrote and drew a picture about what they love about school. The kids chose our classroom, the playground, friends and our treasure box for the activity.  These letter will be given to each incoming student to help them feel more comfortable next school year.

Thursday was about learning our Last Names.  In circle time we talked about our last names and how most of our family we live with may have the same last name.  In centers I asked the kids to identify their last name by picking it out of a group of other names.  Then the kids traced and practiced writing their last names on our dry erase quick kits.  They did great!  We also finished up our love bug push pin sheet.  The kids also worked on a letter sequencing cut and past sheet for letters A-L.  They did amazing!  In another center the kids worked on another color by number love letter coloring sheet.  We finished the day by watching Captain Seasalt Letter L video to reinforce words that begin with L.

It was a really great week and I am so proud of them!  Next week’s letter is Dd.
