This week we focused on the letter Dd. We talked about the sound the letter Dd makes and words that begin with the letter Dd. We came up with dinosaur, door, dad, dolphin, dentist, and deer.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of dental. For morning centers, we played a dental roll and cover game, played the alligator teeth game, traced/wrote the letter Dd, and practiced floss by using Duplo blocks, playdoh and string. We then worked on a cut and paste page by sorting pictures of good/bad things for your teeth. In the afternoon, we did our Dd says /d/ page. At the end of the day, we read books about taking care of our teeth and played some more with the alligator dental game.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of dinosaurs. In the morning, we had specials with all five all-day teachers. We then went to our classroom and did centers. For centers, we put together dinosaur themed tanagrams, played with dinosaurs and kinetic sand, matched upper and lowercase ABCs with a dino theme, and used dino measuring cards and unifix cubes to measure different dinosaurs. In The afternoon, we did another set of centers. Here we worked together to put a dinosaur puzzle together, made dinos out of floam, and colored a dino page. At the end of the day, we got to put our dino eggs in water and we would look in the morning to see if they hatched. We also read books with a dino theme.
On Thursday, we continued to focus on a dinosaur theme. For morning centers, we made the number of eggs for the dino nest on what the page said, did a cut/paste dino page, and matched number of dots and ten frames with the correct number. We then took turns telling the assistant answers to the questions for a dinosaur creative writing. For art, in the afternoon, we made a shape dinosaur. At the end of the day, we got to play with our friends with free choice play. We also read more books about dinosaurs.
Until next week,
