Hi Parents,
We had a great week learning about the letter Uu. Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Under water.’ In morning centers, the kids worked on adding with sea creatures, they played with kinetic sand and shells, they made sea creatures with pattern blocks, and they sorted, cut, and glued animals that live in the sea vs. animals that live on the land. In the afternoon, the kids did graphing with fish and shapes and they built with bristle blocks and magna tiles. After our extra big room time with toys, we ended the day with chapel. The kids heard the Resurrection story about Jesus and why we celebrate Easter.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘It’s a great day for Up.’ In the morning, the kids rotated through specials learning sign language, zoo phonics, Spanish, and science. In afternoon centers, the kids cut and glued their U page, they traced balloons with markers and then colored them, they painted a balloon with balloons, and they played with magnet wands and magnets. We ended the day with art. The kids drew an under water scene on a clear pouch and then put a black piece of paper in it and used their flashlight to ‘light up’ the creatures they drew. These came home. This is one of my favorite projects and the kids love it too!
On Thursday our theme was ‘Umbrellas and Unicorns.’ In morning centers, the kids counted rain drops (beads) on umbrellas with numbers, they counted with unicorn themed counting mats, they cut and glued the letter U and made a unicorn, and they drew a penguin. This is for a project that had several steps. We will put the whole thing together next week and I will send pictures! In the afternoon the kids cut and glued rain drops under an umbrella and then colored the umbrella, they build with LEGO’s, and they played with princess, unicorns, and under the sea creatures. We ended the day finishing up some work from earlier in the day and the kids colored their penguins that they drew.
Next week is our last week before spring break and we are talking about the letter Gg. Don’t forget that Wednesday is Grandparents day at 12:30. Please let me know if you have questions.
Take Care,
Missy
