Hello Parents,

Our letter for this week was Bb and it was filled with butterflies, bugs and bears!

On Monday we started the day with a sweet butterfly coloring sheet. We were then called to take the kids graduation pictures and I can tell you they will be adorable!  During circle time we talked about the life cycle of caterpillars/butterflies.  Today the kids even got to see live caterpillars which we will continue to see the life cycle in real time over the next couple of weeks.  When they are ready the kids will witness the release of the butterflies too!  We ended the day watching Captain Seasalt letter Bb.

Tuesday we started the day with puzzles.  The kids absolutely love doing puzzles!  During centers the kids worked on The Bb Says worksheet.  They also practiced writing the letter Bb on our dry erase quick kits.  The kids also flexed their creative muscles by thinking about “if they were a butterfly and could fly anywhere where would they go” during creative writing.  This is an exercise where they tell me their answer and I write is for them to copy onto their paper then draw a picture of it.  This is really great for them to try to write words on their own. We ended the day day practicing our Zoo Phonics.

On Wednesday we have Art!  During art the kids painted a butterfly with balloons. The kids really enjoy painting.  After art time we joined the all day classes during Specials for phonics and sign language.  They get so excited for the extra time with other classes.  Back in the classroom we worked on a simple craft of coloring, cutting and pasting a butterfly which was sent home this week.  So cute!

Thursday we started the day reading Brown Bear which is one of my favorites.  During centers the kids worked on sorting lower case b and d with a cut and paste worksheet.  They practiced their one to one counting with clip cards also.  Another center was focused on matching both upper and lowercase letters which proved tricky for some.  The last center was a finish the pattern cut and paste worksheet which I had the kids finish on their own.  They did so good!

Next week our letter is Kk and our King and Queen Day on Wednesday.
