Hi Parents!

What a fun week!  It was our first week of ABC Bootcamp which is a review of letters A-M.

Monday started with a soldier coloring page.  We did a short circle time and introduced our count down to the last day of school!  When we take down a scoop of ice cream each day there is a fun activity on the back.  Todays fun activity was getting to play toys with our friends in the foyer.  After circle time we went to Chapel in the sanctuary.  Chapel was all about how to pray to God or Jesus using the acronym TACO.  The kids enjoyed praying together.  After chapel we went in the foyer to do some rhyming riddles for letters Dd and Jj and them the kids got to play with toys.  We ended the day back in out classroom watching ZooPhonics.

On Tuesday we started the day with puzzles and circle time.  After circle time the kids had a short graduation practice with Mrs. Trish.  Back in our classroom we did a few centers.  The first center was matching upper and lowercase letter cards and connecting them with chain links.  In another center the kids got to construct letters using large plastic shapes.  The kids also got to play with letter stamps in kinetic sand.  The last center was rainbow writing which is basically tracing letters in the colors of the rainbow to promote the correct letter construction and recognition.  Today’s countdown prize was everyone got a sucker to go home!

Wednesday we started the day with reading books and then joined the other pre-k classes for practicing our sign language and phonics songs for graduation.  After practice we group the kids by which school they would be at next year and they were able to play and make new friends.  We’ll do this once a week until the end of the year.  Today’s countdown prize was everyone got an extra coin (extra treasure box on Thursday).

On Thursday the kids had another graduation practice with Mrs. Trish.  During centers the kids used dot markers to find the lowercase match to the uppercase letters on a worksheet.  They also worked on some beginning sounds puzzles and continued with more rainbow writing.  For math the kids used PlayDoh balls to count in 10 frames.  At the end of the day we named and released the butterflies we have been watching.  The kids got to wave goodbye and watch them soar away.  Today’s countdown prize was for Monday’s pajama day.  The kids get to bring a stuffie to school and hangout with it all day.

Next week is our second half of ABC Bootcamp, pajama day, camping day and wear camo day!
