This week we focused on the letter Ff. We talked about the sound the letter Ff makes and words that begin with the letter Ff. We came up with farm, frog, fire, firemen, fire truck, and fish.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of frog. For start-up, we colored a Ff page while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we made our numbers with frog themed play-doh mats, made shapes with geoboards and rubber bands, traced/wrote the letter Ff, and matched our upper and lowercase ABCs with a frog theme. After lunch, we worked on the Ff says /f/ page. at the end of the day, we drew a frog by following directions. They all turned out cute!!!! We also read books with a frog theme.
On Wednesday, we focused on the theme of farm. In the morning, we started our “specials”. here we rotate through the five all-day teachers and learn spanish, literacy and zoo phonics, science, and sign language. We will have this every Wednesday. For centers, we worked pn a farm themed ten frames, played with farm animals and kinetic sand sensory bin, did a farm themed creative writing, and followed farm themed cards to make farm fences with popsicle sticks. In the afternoon, we finished our frog following directions project. At the end of the day, we did our October following directions activity.
On Thursday, we continued to focus on the theme of farm. For morning art, we painted out hands white to make a cow for our “Down on the ABC Farm” wall. For centers, we used corn themed cards and counted out the correct number of corn kernals, did a farm patterning page, colored a farm themed color-by-letter page, and played with a farm center. At the end of the day, we were supposed to have the firemem come and talk to us but they got called out on a call. We will try and reschedule them to come again.
