This week we focused on the letter Pp. We talked about the sound the letter Pp makes and words that begin with the letter Pp. we came up with pencil, pizza, pajamas, popcorn, and pumpkin.
On Tuesday, we focused on the theme of pizza. For start-up, we colored a Pp page while we waited for our friends to arrive. For morning centers, we worked on our math skills by making a “pizza” by following the recipe cards and counting out the correct ingredients, matched our ABCs with a pizza theme, did a pizza creative writing, and trace/wrote the letter Pp. In the afternoon, we did the Pp says /p/ page. We also colored a pizza color by number page by following directions. At the end of the day, we worked on some make-up work and things that needed to be finished. We read books with a pizza theme.
On Wednesday, we got to wear our pajamas to school. In the morning, we had specials with all five all-day teachers. For morning centers, we made ten frames with number cards and ten frame pop-its, made Halloween shapes with playdoh, worked on a pumpkin ABC matching game, and did a pumpkin sticker craft. After lunch and recess, we got to watch the movie Spookley, The Square Pumpkin and ate popcorn. At the end of the day, we decorated our mini pumpkins. We read books with a pumpkin theme.
On Thursday, we had our pumpkin patch field trip. We had a lot of fun!!! It was a nice day out!!!!
Please make sure you are working with your child on writing their names with the correct penicil grip. It is important that they master this skill for Kindergarten.
Until next week,
