This week we focused on learning the routine, how to work in centers, eat lunch, and realized how long the day is!!!! The kiddos did great this week!!! We are going to have a great year!!!

On Tuesday, we talked about the first day of school. We went over the schedule of the day and learned the routine of a school day. For morning centers, we made our ABCs out of play-doh, did a “This is me on the first day of school” page, laced with ABCs, and made numbers out of snap cubes. After that we, read a couple of first day books. Then it was lunch and recess. After recess, we came back to our classroom and painted our handprint for our first day poem and colored a first day of school coloring page. At the end of the day, we got to play outside with our friends from the other classes.

On Wednesday, we talked about “All About Me”. First, we did our circle time. This is where we go over our monthly themes and calendar time. For morning centers, we rolled a die and put that many unifix cubes together, we looked in a mirror and drew our faces, made ABCs out of pop-its, and used snap cubes with “Back to School” pictures. We also took our “First Week of Pre-K” pictures. For afternoon centers, we practiced tracing/writing our first names, laced with beads, made shapes with geoboards, and made letters with letter cutouts and kinetic sand. At the end of the day, we got to rotate through some play centers.

On Thursday, we continued to talk about “All About Me”. First, we did circle time and read a few books. For morning centers, we patterned with unifix cubes, practiced cutting out ovals and circles, play with magnets in a sensory bin, and put linking chains together in a pattern. Before lunch, we went through each of our “All About Me” pages that we did at home. After lunch and recess, we went to art where we colored, cut out and wrote our names on a picture of a pencil. At the end of the day, we finished with reading a couple of books and got to “play” with manipulatives.
