This week we focused on the letter Aa. We talked about the sound the letter Aa makes and words that begin with the letter Aa. We came up with apple, astronaut, acorn, alligator, and ant.
On Tuesday, we started the day off with a letter Aa coloring page while we waited for all of our friends to get there. Then we had big room time and circle time. For morning centers, we counted the number of apple erasers and put them in the right numbered muffin tin, did our Aa says /a/ cut and paste page, matched upper-and lowercase ABCs with and apple theme, and did an apple push pin art. We also had chapel where we learned about creation. For afternoon centers, we colored our astronaut and flag for an art project next week, practiced tracing/writing the letter Aa, and finished our apple push pin art. At the end of the day, we got some wiggles out and danced to “Go Danny” and “Go Noodle”.
On Wednesday, we practiced tracing/writing our names while we waited for our friends to get there. Then we had big room time and circle time. For morning centers, we worked on ten frames by using apple stickers, did an apple sequencing page, did an Aa maze/find the letter Aa in quick kits, and made apple towers with unifix cubes. Before lunch, we got our wiggles out by dancing to “Go Danny” and “Go Noodle”. After lunch and recess, we did a tissue paper apple art by ripping red, green and yellow tissue paper and then laminated our apples. At the end of the day, we got to taste a red, green and yellow apple and then graphed it on a worksheet whether we liked it or not. We also read books on apples and the apple orchard.
On Thursday, we talked about astronauts. After all our friends got there, we went to big room and then went back to the classroom and finished our Original Works art. Then we did morning centers. Here we made ten frames with “moon rocks”, played with star manipulatives, matched out ABCs with a rocket theme, and played a “roll a planet” game. For art, we painted our moon by using foil for our art project next week. At the end of the day, we got to go into the big room and play with toys in play centers.
