Hi Parents, we had a great week learning about the letter Rr! Here is a snap shot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Rainbows.’ In morning centers the kids rolled dice and covered the number on a rainbow, they cut and glued their ‘r’ page, they painted a rainbow dot page, and they put together patterns with rainbow popsicle sticks. In afternoon centers the kids made rainbow chains after writing their name on each color. This was a challenge for them and they turned out great! They are hanging in our hallway. I also posted pictures of these on GroupMe. The kids also played with beads in bottles with funnels and sorted colored pom poms with tweezers. We ended our day with toys and finishing up work from the morning.
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Rockets.’ Like I mentioned on GroupMe, this was our first day of specials. Each Wednesday the kids will rotate through all 4 classrooms learning Spanish, sign language, zoo phonics and science. This can be a little bit of an adjustment for some kids but most love it! In the afternoon the kids pained a rainbow with watercolor paint in art. They then glued cotton balls at the bottom for the ‘clouds.’ These are so cute and are also hanging in the hallway. We ended the day with stomp rockets outside, which the kids loved.
On Thursday our theme was ‘Rectangles and Robots.’ In morning centers the kids measured robots with unifix cubes, they traced, colored, and cut rectangles, they put together robot puzzles with rhyming words, and they worked on tracing lines on a robot. In afternoon centers the kids cut and glued a robot. They were so proud of these! They will come home next week, I didn’t get them in to their folders in time. They also worked on letter pages and coloring pictures that start with R with dry erase markers. We ended the day outside on the playground.
Next week we will talk about the letter F. Looking forward to it!
Take Care,
Missy
