This week was W week. On Tuesday, we welcomed students back to school. We started the day by writing our names. In centers, we wrote upper and lowercase W, found W’s to make a maze, did a connect the dot page, and made W’s on geo boards. For art, we made a hand print polar bear winter scene. They look great in our hallway. We started mid-year evaluations and played with our friends. After big room time, we did a W riddles game in the foyer. We ended the day with story time.
Wednesday was Wonderful Watermelons day. We started the day coloring watermelons. In morning centers, we wrote W’s on our writing tablets. did our W cutting page, played a mitten match game, and did push pin watermelons. In afternoon centers, we made letters with pop its, matched letter mittens, made 12 and 13 in ten frames, and finished our push pin watermelons. At the end of the day, we did our January coloring and writing samples. We continued with mid-year evaluations.
Thursday was Winter Wonderland day. We started the day reading books with friends. In morning centers, we wrote about our favorite thing to do when it is cold outside, did a beginning letter sound game, traced letters and put them into ten frames, and made tissue paper snowflakes for our classroom window. In afternoon centers, we played with Picasso tiles, did a sequencing winter paper, played a snow globe count card game, and cut and glued snowman shapes. At the end of the day, we did makeup work and played with our friends.
