Hi Parents!

This week we celebrated Easter and learned about the letter Qq.

On Monday we had some fun celebrating Easter.  We started the class party with a group listening game called Boom Clap Grab which we had played before but this time the grab items were Easter themed.  Then we played the name game which is a listening and coordination game where we repeat each child’s name while clapping.  After the games the kids hunted for Easter eggs around the church.  The first egg was marked with the first letter to their name.  The second one they looked for the right color. The third egg they could pick any one.  After the hunt we went back to the classroom for two centers.  The first center was a roll and count activity.  The kids rolled dice and counted out the corresponding number of tiny erasers.  The second center the kids got to graph jellybeans by color.  Each child got a small cup of jellybeans to sort and graph.  When they finished they got to eat them!  Definitely the favorite for the day.  We then had a quick snack of goldfish crackers and Pirates Bootie.

Tuesday we started the day with a Qq coloring sheet.  During centers the kids completed the write, cut and paste The Qq Says worksheet.  Another center focused on beginning sounds with clip cards.  We also worked on writing Qq’s with our dry erase quick kits.  We ended the day with watching Captain Seasalt Letter Qq.

On Wednesday we had fun at Art!  During art we used printed paper to make quilts.  The kids cut paper into the squares and glued them to make a quilt.  After art the kids had the opportunity to join our All-day classes during their Specials for phonics and sign language.  The kids really enjoyed these fun group activities.  We’ll be joining these Specials each Wednesday for the remainder of the year.  After the Specials we went back to the classroom to works on a super secret project.

Thursday we had fun working on another super secret project 🙂 In centers the kids worked on rhyming words with small puzzles.  In another center the kids practiced counting with Spring themed clip cards. Then the kids had fun practicing writing Qq and Yy on our large vertical white boards.  We ended the day watching Zoo phonics.

Next week we introduce the letter Bb.  Monday is graduation pictures.
