Hi Parents!

This week we concentrated on the letter Jj.  Definitely another busy week!

We started the week on Monday with Jumping for Jesus!  The day began with a coloring sheet and jumping/dancing.  Once in the classroom, circle time was spent reviewing the letter sounds we have already covered, learning what sound the Jj makes and how to write the letter Jj.  Then we moved on to our center time.  The kids worked their fine motor muscles making Jj’s with floam.  Another center was matching upper and lowercase letters with our baby Jesus cards.  The kids are beginning to get some of the letters we haven’t covered yet.  We also worked on our super secret art projects today.  The kids had fun doing some painting.

Tuesday we started the day with practicing writing names on our dry erase quick kits.  The kids worked on counting Christmas trees in 10 frames and picking the correct number.  They did great so next time I’ll add some numbers over 10.  Another center was building a “barn” for baby Jesus with Legos which is a great way to work those fine motor muscles.  We also did a little art project with tissue paper which will go home later.

Wednesday’s theme was J is for Jellybeans.  We started the day with the kids “reading” books on their own. Today was the our first Christmas play practice and Mrs. Trish said they did awesome!  Then it was back to the classroom for some quick centers.  The kids did a great following directions page that included coloring jellybeans specific colors, cutting them out and pasting them into a jar.  It took longer than anticipated so some kids didn’t finish at school.  We sent home the page so they could finish if they wanted.  In another center the kids worked on the monthly writing and coloring page where they drew a picture of their Christmas tree.

On Thursday the theme was Jingle Bell Joy.  In centers the kids rolled dice, counted jingle bells and decorated a Christmas tree with them. In another center the kids spent time writing Jj’s  and the numbers 9 – 10 – 11 – 12 on our vertical white board. We helped the kids work on their pencil grip by doing scratch art with wooden sticks which really tired their little hands. We also did a little painting for our super secret art projects.

Such a busy week filled with active and excited littles.  I loved hearing about all the Elf adventures everyone is having too! 🙂
