Hi Parents,
We had a great week talking about the letter Ii. Here is a snapshot…
On Tuesday our theme was ‘Igloos and Ice cubes.’ In morning centers, the kids rolled a die and counted cotton balls in to ice cube trays, they colored the letter I, they cut and glued their I page, and they painted an igloo and snowflakes with Duplo blocks. In the afternoon, before our extra big room time, the kids colored eskimos that we will use for a project later. For our extra big room time the kids played with toys while I started evaluating them on their letters, numbers, sounds, etc. so I’m prepared for conferences next week!
On Wednesday our theme was ‘Indoor Ice Skating.’ In the morning the kids rotated through specials learning science, zoo phonics, sign language, and Spanish. In the afternoon the kids decorated a skate and laced it, they built with blocks, and they built with LEGO’s. We ended the day with art. The kids cut and glued their igloo (that they painted Tuesday) and glued cotton on to their eskimo from Tuesday as well. They also had a blast during their big room time indoor ‘ice skating!’
On Thursday our theme was ‘Ice Cream.’ In morning centers, the kids counted scoops on to cones with numbers, they played with kinetic sand and ice cream accessories, they colored, cut, and glued an ice cream cone, and they sorted ice cream cones by size, small, medium, and large. In afternoon centers, the kids cut, glued, and colored a winter counting page, they worked on pony bead mats, and made letters with popsicle sticks. We ended the day by having an ice cream social with all of the other all day classes! The kids loved eating ice cream at school.
Next week, we will talk about the letter Ss. Don’t forget that we have conferences next Tuesday and Wednesday afternoon. If you have not signed up yet, please do!!! Looking forward to another great week.
Take Care,
Missy
