Hi Parents!
Such a fun week of underwater adventures and unicorns!
On Monday we started our week with a Uu coloring page. In centers the kids wrote the letters Uu and Ee on our large white board. Writing vertically is a great way for building those writing muscles and hand grip. We also worked on finishing the patterns and one to one counting dots on our matching numbers cupcakes. In another center the kids worked on duplicating the pictures using basic shapes. This is a great way to get their brains thinking how to break down what they see into shapes. At the end of the day we watched Captain Seasalt Letter Uu and talked about all the words that start with U. We also read the book The Pout Pout Fish.
Tuesday we started our day practicing our names in our dry erase quick kits. In centers the kids worked on the write, cut and past The Uu Says worksheet. In another center the kids found the beginning sound letter on a worksheet where they colored the circle with the correct beginning sound letter. The kids did amazing on this and I am so proud! The kids also used our geoboards and rubber band to make letters which worked those fine motor muscles. In our last center we started our under the ocean project where the kids used Sharpie marker to draw an underwater scene on a plastic pouch. They were so creative. We ended our day reading the book Bertha the Shark.
On Wednesday we do Art! At Art today we made umbrellas by using paper plates. We painted the plates using pompoms and used an popsicle stick for the handle. Super cute! After Art time, we also went to Chapel today. In Chapel the kids learned the story of Easter and Jesus coming back to life after crucifixion. Its definitely a difficult story for them to comprehend so we will talk more about it closer to Easter. I think the kids always enjoy Chapel time. Back in our classroom the kids worked on their monthly writing and coloring sample which will be included in their end of year portfolio. The kids also colored their underwater flashlight to go with their underwater scene pouch. We ended the day with practicing our ZooPhonics.
Thursday was our 100th day of school! The kids were so surprised they have been in school for so many day. In centers they counted 100 smiley face erasers onto a worksheet using tweezers. So many fun skills in this activity! They also matched beginning sounds to their letters using small puzzle cards and again they did so good! In other centers they practiced writing their Uu’s on dry erase quick kits and matched upper and lowercase letters using unicorn and rainbow cards. The kids also cut out their underwater flashlights for the pouches and I showed them the magic of the underwater! The kids LOVED these underwater pouches and were excited to show you!4
Next week is Gg week and Grandparents Day on Wednesday at 9:30am.
